JEE Main 2026 Correction Window

JEE (Main) 2026 — Correction Window:
Date, Process and What You Must Know

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has provided a one-time correction facility for candidates who have submitted the JEE (Main) – 2026 Session-1 application form. This article explains everything you need to know: the correction dates and time, which particulars can (and cannot) be changed, how the correction process works, fee implications and practical tips to avoid mistakes.

The correction window for JEE (Main) 2026 Session-1 is a one-time opportunity. Corrections will be allowed from 01 December to 02 December 2025 (up to 11:50 PM) — after that the form will be frozen and no further edits will be entertained.

Why NTA gave a correction window

  • NTA has received representations from students asking for a facility to edit/modify particulars after submission.
  • To reduce procedural hardship and allow accurate data, a one-time correction window is being provided — but candidates must take care because this is final and the form will be frozen after submission.

Dates & timing (most important)

  • Correction window open: 01 December 2025
  • Correction window closes: 02 December 2025 (11:50 PM)
  • This is a one-time facility — make corrections carefully because once submitted the form is frozen.

Which fields you CANNOT change

The official annexure explicitly lists the particulars that are not allowed to be changed during the correction window. Do NOT expect to update these items in the correction facility:

  • Mobile number
  • E-mail address
  • Address (permanent and present)
  • Emergency contact details
  • Photograph of the candidate

Which fields you CAN change

NTA has grouped editable items into categories. Read them carefully and choose edits only if you are sure:

  1. Change ANY ONE of these (pick one only):

    • Candidate name or Father’s name or Mother’s name.
(Note: if you change name details, check supporting documents and naming on certificates carefully.)

  2. Change ALL of these (full-field edits allowed):

  3. Change examination city selection & medium:

    • You may change the examination city based on your permanent/present address, and you may change the medium of the examination. Note NTA is not bound to follow the exact city choices if administrative constraints apply.

  4. Change ALL of these (major identity and category fields):

    • Date of birth

    • Gender

    • Category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/General etc.)

    • Sub-category / PwD status (if not verified by UDID portal)

    • Signature of the candidate

  5. Add / update paper option:

  6. Aadhaar details (for those who registered with identity other than Aadhaar):

    • Candidates who registered with identity other than Aadhaar may be allowed to update Aadhaar details during correction (subject to verification).

Fees & payment for corrections

  • If your edits change the fee structure (for example, if you switch to an additional paper that requires extra fee), you must pay the additional fee via Credit/Debit Card / Net Banking / UPI as applicable.
  • Fees once paid are not refundable even if changes are later reversed — check the final preview carefully before paying.

Important process: How to submit corrections

Note: the exact labels on the site can vary slightly; always follow the official login flow on the JEE (Main) website.

  1. Visit the official portal: Go to the JEE (Main) portal and log in using your application number and password / date of birth. (Only edit through the official portal — do not use third-party links.) JEE Main
  2. Find the correction link: Click on the ‘Application Form Correction’ / ‘Correction in Particulars’ link that appears during the correction window.
  3. Edit carefully: Make only the necessary edits. If the annexure allows only one change from a group, ensure you change only that field.
  4. Upload supporting documents (if needed): For certain edits (name/DOB/category), you may be required to upload scanned supporting documents — keep scanned, clear copies ready.
  5. Check fee implication: If your correction impacts the fee, the portal will prompt you to pay the difference.
  6. Preview & Submit: Preview the final form carefully. Once you submit, the form will be frozen (no more edits). Save/print the acknowledgment and confirmation page for your records.

Common candidate doubts — short FAQ

Q: Can I change my mobile number or email during correction?
A: No. Mobile number and email are locked — you cannot change them in the correction window. If you entered them incorrectly, follow the helpline guidance on the official portal.

Q: Is this really a one-time chance?
A: Yes — NTA has clearly stated the correction facility is a one-time facility and once corrections are submitted the application form will be frozen. Don’t rush, but be very careful.

Q: I changed exam city — does NTA guarantee that city?
A: No — NTA will try to accommodate city preferences but is not bound to follow choices verbatim due to administrative constraints (center availability, city capacity). Always have alternate city choices ready.

Q: What if I submitted wrong details and miss the correction window?
A: After the window closes, NTA will not entertain changes. For critical mismatches (name vs certificate) you may contact NTA helpline immediately, but there is no guarantee. Always verify information before initial submission and again during the correction window.

Practical tips & checklist before you correct

Use this checklist before making any edit — saves time and avoids errors.

  • Keep scanned copies of: 10th/12th mark sheets, birth certificate/Aadhaar, caste/PwD certificate (if applicable), passport-size photo and signature (in the required dimensions).
  • Note down exactly which field you will change — do not make unnecessary edits.
  • If changing NAME, verify which name is required for scorecard/admission (10th certificate name is often used).
  • For DOB edits, carry original documents for verification at later stages — inconsistencies can cause problems at counselling/admission.
  • Take a final print / screenshot of the corrected form and acknowledgment for records.
  • Do not share login credentials with anyone. Use a secure network while making payments.

Helpline & official support

If you have doubts or technical issues:

  • Helpline number and official contact email are listed on the JEE (Main) portal and in the public notice. Use only official contact details from the JEE (Main) website — do not rely on random phone numbers shared on social pages.

Why being cautious matters

  • The JEE scorecard and admission documents rely on accurate personal details — wrong name, DOB, or category can cause problems at counselling and admission or even lead to disqualification. Treat the correction window seriously and double-check everything.

Short timeline recap

  • Registration deadline (Session-1): 27 November 2025 (no extension).
  • Correction window: 01–02 December 2025 (up to 11:50 PM).
  • Exam (Session-1): Tentative dates in January 2026 (as per information bulletin — check portal for confirmed shifts).

Final note for aspirants

Take this opportunity seriously but calmly. Make a plan: collect documents, decide the exact edits you need, and use the correction window only to fix genuine errors that matter for final certificates and admissions. If in doubt, seek help from your school/college counsellor or contact the NTA helpdesk for clarity.
